Chris Scott November 17, 2004
You may have known him as "Judge" or "Charles" or "Chuck"...I knew him
as "Papa", for he was my grandfather and one of the most influential
people in my life. He and my grandmother, Jewell, raised me for a few
years and were good enough to allow me to spend my childhood summers
with them in their adopted hometown of Blanco, Texas. Papa taught me
how to drive, how to fish, and most importantly how to be a better
person. He was a constant influence on my life and he will be dearly
missed. He had many, many friends, acquaintances and contacts, and I am
confident that every one of them would agree that the world is a better
place for having had him in it. He always had a story or anecdote to
relay, sometimes they had a moral or purpose, and sometimes they just
made you laugh. He was kind, gentle, and he sincerely cared about the
wellbeing of others around him. He was a community leader, a
relationship builder, and I don't think anything gave him more pleasure
than putting two strangers together so that they could share ideas and
make something happen that was new and better. Charles Scott was a
great friend, a great grandparent, and a great person. He was a man of
God, and for that reason I know I will see him again someday. Until
then, Papa, we will miss you.
Love,
Chris
